Enjoy Your Dream Smile with Invisalign Invisible Braces
A healthy and attractive smile is about more than just good looks. It can also be a sign of good oral and general health.
In the past, traditional orthodontics involved wearing ugly, uncomfortable metal braces often for over a year before achieving a straighter smile. But today, there is a better way to straighten teeth that’s both discrete and way more comfortable. At Washington Street Dentistry, Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Matthew Church can transform your smile using the latest, invisible orthodontic braces treatment technology—Invisalign.
How Invisalign Works
With Invisalign’s tailor-made aligner trays, you’ll experience the ease of gently guiding your teeth into the perfect smile. These comfortable and easy-to-maintain trays ensure that your favorite foods are always on the menu and allow you to keep your oral hygiene top-notch with unhindered brushing and flossing. Wear these removable aligners for about 22 hours daily, and feel confident knowing you can take them off anytime you want.
The Invisalign Process
Your first visit involves a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Church, where he’ll discuss all the details of your upcoming Invisalign treatment. You’ll learn all the mechanics of the process along with an estimate of the total cost. After you’ve received the assessment, you’ll have all the information you’ll need to make the best decision to suit your needs.
Should you proceed, Dr. Church will likely have digital X-rays taken of your face, teeth, and mouth from different angles. This process gives us a detailed map showing how your mouth moves which we’ll use to base your customized dental work.
In some cases, we may need to apply small composite patches to all of your teeth to assist the Invisalign aligner’s grip allowing the device to move each tooth gradually. Not all patients will need these patches using the same material to make dental fillings. The patches are also easy to remove and do not cause discomfort when removed at the end of the process.
If your teeth are crowded, Dr. Church may use specialized discs that sand off a small amount of tooth enamel to give the tooth more room for movement.
And you don’t have to wait for your aligners, as you’ll get your first set during the same visit you’re doing your preparatory work. The aligners will feel tight when you first put them on, but don’t worry. Dr. Church will ensure they fit correctly. It is usual for the aligners to feel strange; keep in mind they are moving your teeth ever so slightly, which is why you’ll experience a degree of pressure.
Changing and Maintaining Your Aligners
You’ll change aligners according to the schedule set by Dr. Church. During this time, you’ll notice changes in your mouth. This is to be expected and is part of the Invisalign process. Traditional braces produce a similar feeling of pressure. However, with Invisalign, you don’t have to deal with feeling uncomfortable with metal braces and rubber bands irritating your mouth.
Every night before bed, you can remove your aligners for cleaning, which only involves rinsing with water. Cleaning every night will prevent your aligners from building up bacteria and smelling.
Before you know it, your Invisalign journey will conclude with you enjoying a brilliant, new, straighter smile.
