Patients in Indianapolis smile confidently with dental implants
Missing, broken, decaying, or chipped teeth can significantly and negatively affect a person’s desire to smile and can cause functional problems as well, such as impaired comfort when eating or speaking. At Washington Street Dentistry, serving patients in the greater Indianapolis, IN, region, Dr. Matthew Church has been providing advanced dental care for patients and families for more than 15 years. As a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Church is a highly skilled and experienced doctor of dental surgery (DDS).
When it comes to restoring the beauty and function of a patient’s smile, our dedicated professional team offers several options, including:
Dental Implants
Considered the premier solution for patients who are missing teeth or need to have teeth extracted, dental implants replace the entire tooth, including the root. A post, made of biocompatible materials, is surgically placed into the jawbone and it naturally fuses with the bone. Like the root of a tooth, the post stimulates and strengthens the bone and prevents healthy teeth from shifting and becoming loose. Once fully bonded to the bone, the implant is topped off with a lifelike dental crown and offers that stability and function of a healthy tooth. If for any reason a patient is not an ideal candidate for dental implants, such as in the case there is not enough healthy bone to support the implant, Dr. Church may recommend an alternative treatment, including dentures or dental bridges.
Dentures
There are two types of dentures, full or complete, which are selected based upon whether or not a patient is missing a few teeth or an entire arch of teeth. Dentures, today, are more natural looking and comfortable than decades ago.
Dental bridge
As one can assume from the name, a dental bridge spans the space left by a missing tooth. A dental bridge is typically anchored to healthy teeth on each side and secured with a dental crown.
Dental crowns
Highly versatile, dental crowns can solve a number of oral health issues. They may be used to cover, strengthen, or protect an unsightly, damaged, or weakened tooth and cover the visible portion of the tooth. Crowns are also used in combination with dental implants and dental bridges.
