Your sedation dentist in Indianapolis helps rid you of dental anxiety

Although we are all taught from an early age the necessity of oral hygiene, as well as the benefits of professional dental care, millions of people would prefer never to set foot inside of a dental office. For many, this fear of dental care leaves them in dire need of the care they so strenuously avoid.

It isn’t always easy to explain dental anxiety. What one person fears may be totally different from what keeps another person from seeing the dentist. Furthermore, the reasons behind dental anxiety vary widely. Some people have bad memories of early dental care. Some are frightened by the stories they are told of poor dental treatment – many of which are highly exaggerated. People who harbor anxiety and put off seeing the dentist may also find that their fears are exacerbated because when the do eventually make dental visits they tend to result in the need for restorative care. The avoidance of professional dental care leaves you at risk for problems such as cavities, infection, and gum disease. We are happy to offer our patients solutions that will make dental care more comfortable.

If you have experienced dental anxiety, you are one of a large group. A sedation dentist in Indianapolis, Dr. Church understands the apprehension that many people feel about dental care. At Washington Street Dentistry, we want our patients to have good experiences. The more comfortable you are during your visits to our office, the more likely you will be to maintain regular visits for optimal oral health. Many people who begin their care with sedation dentistry find that, after some time, they are able to approach visits without the same level of anxiety they once did.

Sedation allows you to undergo various forms of treatment without fear or stress. Sedation dentistry is all about creating a better experience in which patients feel comfortable and at peace during visits for preventive, restorative, or cosmetic treatment. Sedatives used in dentistry are not designed to cause the patient to sleep, but will leave him or her feeling utterly relaxed and free of anxiety. During your visit you will be able to communicate with your dentist as needed, though the sights and sounds of the office will not have an emotional impact on you.

You no longer have to avoid the dentist due to anxiety. At Washington Street Dentistry, you have options to choose the right type of sedation for you. Contact our office to learn more, and to schedule your visit with Dr. Church.

I always have a great experience when I go to Washington Street Dentistry. The staff is very professional and Dr. Church is very personable. I’ve had fillings and a root canal and didn’t feel a thing!
