Patient Testimonial

Washington Street Dentistry
Rating: 5 Samuel L., Washington Street Dentistry I cannot express how grateful I am to the staff and Dr. Church at Washington Street Dentistry! I had to have my first extraction and was nervous and full of questions! They took their time to answer everything and walk me through step by step! I did a walk-in because of severe pain and then they worked me in the next day for the procedure! I will definitely be back!
Most people like to think only of the routine procedures that may be needed from their dentist. Although you may never require an extraction or oral surgery procedure, it's nice to know that all of your dental needs can be successfully handled by one dental team, allowing personalized care from beginning to end. Our practitioners have years of experience and the type of training that allow them to meet your dental needs, even to the point of wisdom tooth extraction or dental implants.

Wisdom teeth

The upper and lower third molars that usually develop during the teen years are what we call wisdom teeth. For most, all four of the third molars will grow, although more or less is possible. In many instances, there is not sufficient room for wisdom teeth to grow in properly, with existing molars directly located where third molars would erupt. These teeth may only partially erupt, or they can become trapped below the gums. Even when wisdom teeth are able to grow in fully, they are often eventually removed due to weakness from large cavities.

We check for the presence of wisdom teeth during routine examinations, carefully reviewing digital x-ray images. When these teeth begin to make their way into the jaw structure, it is beneficial to remove them early. Removing wisdom teeth alleviates the discomfort of their growth process, and minimizes the risk of complications, such as infection or cysts from impacted teeth.

Dental Implants

Today, the new standard of care for tooth replacement is dental implants. These prosthetics allow comfortable, confident chewing and speaking, as the implant post is surgically inserted directly into the jawbone with great precision. Dr. Church is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and holds membership with the American College of Oral Implantology.

When you choose dental implants for tooth replacement, your entire treatment is completed in one dental office, with the same caring team of professionals providing support and information. We ensure that your treatment is tailored to meet your unique needs, and that you are comfortable before, during, and after any oral surgery procedure.
